Christian Boltanski - Les Archives du coeur
Black glass plate from Les Archives du coeur on Teshima Island (Japan). This limited edition multiple (total number not communicated) is made with the same material as the glass used in the exhibition space of the Museum's Heart Room and can be considered a part of the artwork. It was produced in 2010 in commemoration of the museum's opening.
Christian Boltanski is archiving the heartbeats he is recording around the world in this small museum located in a remote corner of Teshima Island, in the inland sea of Japan. Here, in the middle of these big glass plates set on the walls, it is possible for visitors to record their own heartbeats and to listen to any human pulse recorded as part of the project. Les Archives du coeur is part of Benesse Art Site Naoshima.
