This limited edition was printed in 30 copies, numbered 1 to 30 and signed by the artist. Each edition is packed in a cardboard box with a signed and numbered copy of the book Écho alongside with an original drawing signed by the artist.

Philippe Cognée has been choosen to create a piece, Echo, intended to be shown in the renovated premises of the Grand Commun at the Château de Versailles: forty-or-so round paintings -called tondo- as if the painter created a constellation of images seen through his eyes. Those pieces of various size were based on a video from which stills are featured in the book. Those stills are like a spyglass through which we sense the reality oh both frivolity (the court) and tragedy (the guillotine). The eye wanders, slips in and out, from the gardens to the chambers. Details of Versailles appear and disappear in the painting’s substance, here a stairway, a chandelier, a hallway, there frozen animal sculptures, moll hills, a façade in the morning light...
This large book also contains an interview of Philippe Cognée with Marie-Laure Bernadac (who was curator in charge of the contemporary art collection at the Louvre), an essay by Alain Bonfand, art historian and teacher at the Academie des Beaux-Arts of Paris, along with a text by Jean-Jacques Aillagon.
